I always look forward to traveling though the Southwest to photograph the great variety of subject matter in an environment that can be hostile and sometimes dangerous with poisonous creatures, spiny cactus, extreme-weather conditions, and questionable roads that can present challenges to overcome.

I always look forward to traveling though the Southwest to photograph the great variety of subject matter in an environment that can be hostile and sometimes dangerous with poisonous creatures, spiny cactus, extreme-weather conditions, and questionable roads that can present challenges to overcome. This issue contains a variety of locations, some new to me and some familiar spots that needed to be revisited. Tucson’s Desert Museum and the Pima Air & Space Museum are filled with great photo opportunities. The Chiricahua National Monument is mostly mountain wilderness with 17 miles of trails, from easy to strenuous, through a fantasyland of stone spires and balancing mushroom towers.
