Highway 395, one of California’s most scenic drives, stretches for 1,300 miles from the Mojave Desert to the Canadian Border in Washington State. This highway follows the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada Range. Stretches of it are part of California’s oldest roads, connecting remote gold mines to the outside world. This paved road provides access to the highest and lowest points in the lower 48, world-class skiing, incredible autumn color, ghost towns, and some of the oldest forests of bristlecone pines–all favorite subjects for adventurous photographers.
