As I photographed my way around the bluegrass country and through the mountains of Appalachia, I drove the byways through such small towns as Mud Lick, Summer Shade, and Goodluck, Kentucky. I hiked through National Parks, and I slowed down to discover the heart of Kentucky. Some of my favorite photographs were taken along the side of the road. These "little jewels" were discovered while I was on my way to the major destinations, like national parks. I got off the Interstate Highways and drove slowly.
