Most photographers who have hiked all the way out to the Coyote Buttes to photograph The Wave try to keep its location a secret. This red and white striped fantasy of petrified sand dunes is unique. Sitting on the high desert at an elevation of 5,000 feet, this place is as wild and remote as any in the Southwest. You'll need a permit, a map, and directions to find this place. There are no signs or marked trails. It's a strenuous journey but the photography is incredible!
