The Sawtooth National Recreation Area lies almost dead center in the state of Idaho. The area is named for the ragged appearance of the north-south range that seems to rise straight up from the long valley to the east. The Sawtooth Wilderness covers most of the western side of the National Recreation Area and encloses all the peaks along the range.
In this newsletter, I give you some help getting to the Sawtooth Range and tell you where you can find the best photo locations when you get there. Most of the best viewpoints are located on the east side of the range. This means that photographers exploring the area will want to set their alarm clocks, get out early in the morning, and catch the first light of day across the ragged granite peaks. |
